1.1 Gathering data from questionairres

1.1 Preparing interview questions

The initial research phase consisted of accumulating our own user insights, to corroborate our assumptions regarding mobile gaming. Collecting quantitative information from a decent sized sample size also provided us with a general trend as to behaviours that are elicited by gamers.

After many conversations with the game designer and visual artist, eventually it became apparent what screens & features were superfluous and which were necessary when thinking about the MVP. This Sitemap, although later tweaked, gave a general overview of how we envisioned the app to be at it's most simplest form.

2.1 Exploring concepts

2.1 Filling in the gaps

The desire for this game was to create a hybrid element where users could alternate between the classic word finding game, and the offline 'meta-style' game where users can experience a tamagotchi-style mode with their avatar.

3.2 Evolving the designs

3.2 Paper prototype feedback

Below are examples of the onboarding screens and how with each iteration, they converged towards a more finished UI look. Doing this not only allows to progress deigns in a methodical way but it also gives a chance to test prototype at different stages in their development to ensure that there isn't a high cognitive load for users.

4.2 Screens that increase user incentives

4.2 Moodboarding

Once the main screens, such as the homepage, settings page, splash screen etc were created it was time to add in the screens that would be crucial in helping users immerse into more extra challenges and collectibles.

5.1 Creating an mvp

5.1 Creating an mvp

After converging towards an agreed upon colour palette, typography and universal component scheme, the final step was to create a working prototype to showcase to our client. Below are just a few images showing some of the main screens we designed as part of the mvp.
