1.1 Preparing interview questions

1.1 Preparing interview questions

Upon completing the initial stage of research and analysing competitiors, the next step was to collate information from our user-specific interviews. This process helped elucidate the wants, needs, frustrations & expectations of our intended user demographic.

1.2 Synthesising findings into a persona

After compiling all the findings from our interview takeaways, it became more clear as to how to best form an ideal persona to centre our designs around. Based heavily on the background details of some of our interviewee's, we managed to create two user persona's. One for the sender and another for the recipient.

2.1 Filling in the gaps

A large portion of the problem-solving in this project revolved around highlighting the steps, and actions required to safely & successfully complete a money transfer. By creating a service blueprint, it became apparent what action-points were urgent to solve. For example, knowing how to seamlessly implement a unique blockchain wallet id would be crucial in ensuring secure transactions.

By using the old school method of pen and paper, not only was it easier to produce rapid iterations, but it allows one to hone-in on a specific feature and unveil the required steps to complete the call-to-action. In this instance, I used it to design a viable method of sharing the wallet id.

The beauty of paper prototyping is that designs can be tested with a focus on the functionality, putting the visual identity completely to the side. The useful takeaways that are gathered from this method of testing helped us massively in clarifying doubts & removing certain hesitations users would exhibit during the sign-up process.

Once the overall sitemap and app contents were finalised at a minimum level it was time to create wireframes to start bringing the general aesthetic of the app to life. Seeing the app in this way helps to get a sense of the needed UI amendments.

4.2 Moodboarding

The client (owner of sendit.money) envisioned an app that relays a sense of safety, expediency, reliability and fun. His goal was to create a product that strays away from the typical corporate feeling of remittance apps. With this briefing I tried to use vibrant colours to resemble what is widely appealing to an African target user base as well as conveys a sense of assurance through the usage of strong blues.

5.1 Creating an mvp

5.1 Creating an mvp

After converging towards an agreed upon colour palette, typography and universal component scheme, the final step was to create a working prototype to showcase to our client. Below are just a few images showing some of the main screens we designed as part of the mvp.
